Confederate Memorial Day is a state holiday in some Southern states–not on the same day or even the same month. Four states–Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida observe it in April.
There are statues, plaques, and markers throughout the states which designate many of the sites which were a part of the war that divided our nation. BroJoe came upon this one in Kinston, North Carolina.
The church is not the original Harriet’s Chapel; it is one that was moved to the battlefield site.
